PERFORMANCE
THE CONVERSATION
MoMA (Museum of Modern Art NEW YORK)
September 23, 2011
This performance follows the performance of M2 square invisible
prohibited by the leadership of MoMA on the grounds that the space is private
space. The security service (5 people) around Fred Forest when the latter is
about to start his performance. Threatening to arrest him by the police if he
maintains his New York performance.
The artist provided (prepared) this scenario. It traps the
Directorate of MoMA, replacing the banned performance by another performance.
The latter, not predictable, as it presented itself for the artist based on
feedback from museum officials, but provided anyway to turn it into involuntary
stakeholders representatives. The alternative is for presenting the Museum's management
between the choice either to let the performance of artistic m2 unfold, leaving
the door open, the critical load against which the artist develops contemporary
art for several years.

Either ban to cut short the controversy maintained by the
artist.
The latter solution has passed the leadership of MoMA, if not
for a moment imagine the immediate response of the artist, turning the ban by
giving to see, as the content of this performance, response its own security
service, filmed without his knowledge ...
The criticism of Fred Forest has crystallized around as a
typical example the case of Toni Sehgal, who pushed so hidden by the Marian
Goodman Gallery, managed to "sell Wind," with works by his protégé,
the three following institutions : the Guggenheim Museum, MOMA and the Pompidou
Centre recently (for the latter to the negotiated price of $ 100,000 ...)

Fred Forest is an artist identified with humor and conviction
who believes that the function of art is beyond an ordinary commodity, and
repeated by his actions he means it to restore dignity and ethics
