PERFORMANCE / READING
A LIFE IN ONE HUNDRED PORTRAITS
LIBRARY CENTER FLAMMARION POMPIDOU
December 26, 2010
On the occasion of the publication of his book "A Life in
100 portraits" Fred Forest performs a reading / performance at the
bookstore Flammarion Centre Pompidou. He publicly announced his reading as a
provocation, where he leads the charge of the Centre Pompidou, including
Bernard Blistene, its director of development, the challenge that it launches.
The challenge of a debate regarding its participation in a system of
quasi-contemporary art mafia, based on money and clannishness. It shows that he
introduced in his own institution without being in a position to prevent
access. Ironic about his fate, and stating that if the principal applicant does
not go to the summons he is, he can not respond to attacks which will be the
object, and knowing that the absent are always wrong ... this admission will
be, pure and simple, its turpitude.
The performance of the artist takes place over digital display,
where he created a program on Second Life, showing the different people, which
he sketched the portrait in the book he presents. Reading it will also focus on
the portrait he has drawn charge against him. It has not had the nerve to go
down two floors ... coming to bring him the contradiction? A kind of implicit
admission that the artist he is charged. (Utllisation
Second Life for performance)
